Located at a former grange hall and by one report a railroad depot this former caboose is from the Southern Pacific Railroad. The caboose is a C 50-4 and began its career as SP 1897. The caboose was one of 55 units built by the International Car Co. in 1972. A photo of it still in use can be viewed at the
Railroad Archives and again near the end of its career in the
Willamette and Pacific Yard in Albany Oregon at the
Shasts Route Railfan web site.
Additional information including detail information specific to the C-50-4 caboose class can be found at the ESPEE MODELERS ARCHIVE.
It is now red with the name of the church emblazoned as the herald.
