The ladies of an illustrious company leaving Montgomery, Ala. after the Confederate Congress adopted the Stars and Bars
March 4, 1961
Had the West Point train stopped at Grantville, GA. to buy material for a flag.
This they made and unfurled first at Fairburn, GA.

Erected by the Georgia Division U.D.C
June 3, 1937

The original marker, being beyond repair, has been replaced by a joint effort of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camps 1289 & 1361 and the United Daughters of the Confederacy
July 24, 1994
