The Joliet Masonic Temple was built in 1967. At the time, two lodges utilized the facility - Mount Joliet Lodge #42 and Matteson Lodge #175. Since then only the Matteson Lodge meets in this location on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays. (The fate of the Mt. Joliet lodge is not known at the time of posting)
Outside the current Joliet Masonic Temple is the dated cornerstone of the original building. It is clearly Joliet Limestone with the date "1890" etched on the side and "A.L. 5890" on the front.
