This is a parish boundary marker dividing Cardington village from Bedford town.

The marker is one of many erected by Bedford Town Council when the boundaries were expanded in 1934. This one is quite worn and stands on the grass verge next to the famous Cardington Cross.
Nearby is the busy roundabout leading to the Bedford southern bypass, Bedford town and Willington and Cardington villages.
