When the Lewis & Clark Expedition passed through the Short and Long Narrows of the Columbia River in early 1800s the waters were squeezed into the narrow channels punctuated by treacherous whirpools and whitewater. This powerful section of the river now lies beneath Lake Celilo, formed by the backwaters of The Dalles Dam in the late 1950s. Instructions for logging waymark: A photograph is required of you (or your GPS receiver, if you are Waymarking solo) and the place.
