Kingsport Presbyterian was organized in 1820 as the Boatyard Congregation. A log church was built near the current location. A second building was constructed in 1846 on property now part of Rotherwood Mansion, which was 100 yards from Netherland Inn (Waymark WM4QCE) right at the railroad tracks. In 1953, the building was moved up the hill to its current location. The first weblink below has pictures showing the movement. In 1993, the church suffered some fire damaged, thus was renovated.
The church is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places as Waymark WM4XRZ. There is TN Historical Marker as Waymark WM4XTK.
