A plaque below the statue reads:
This statue was created in loving memory of Jane E. Caudill for her dedication and endless contributions to the education of Elliott County's youth. "Granny Jane", as she was known throughout the area, was a prominent business leader in Elliott and Rowan counties and a caring friend to these communities, particularly to their institutions of learning. This piece, sculpted by Stephen Tirone, of the Morehead State University art faculty, was unveiled October 23, 2004.
