"Jill Brown-Rhone Park, Where Technology and Community Come Together."
In a section called Lafayette Square, there is a new plaza that is part of a redesigned intersection of Main Street, Columbia Street, and Massachusetts Avenue. This work was done in 2007-2008 and closes off Main Street to Massachusetts Avenue, and diverting it onto an extension of Columbia Street. Where Main Street used to go, there is a brick plaza area that is named the Jill Brown-Rhone Park.
According to the sign at the park, Jill Brown-Rhone lived in Area IV (a neighborhood of Cambridge), and became a police officer in the city. She lived from 1952 - 2002.
The plaza is about halfway between MIT and Central Square. Nearby are restaurants, a candy factory, and residences. At this park, there are several seats, some with checkerboard tables.
