This mosaic is found in a recessed location at the corner of Pearl and Franklin Streets off Massachusetts Avenue. The mosaic is actually several modular pieces with white spaces between them. Pieces of ceramic, glass, stone and shells and other found materials are pressed into clay. The pieces are in the form of fish, a turtle, a child, and birds. Some of the birds even have circular mirrors pressed into their chests.

The work was done as a reminder of the marshlands that used to line the Charles River before the mouth was dammed to make the Basin.

It was created in 1984, with help, by Lilli Ann K. Rosenberg, a local artist who has done other art work in the area.
