This town is now booming as a yuppie up-and-coming-executive group. Those city folks that want to claim they live in the country as the concrete over the country so they are comfortable types.
Founded as a railroad town. Railroad came because it was the largest tobacco growing area of country. Yep bigger that Virginia. Slaves were denied to farmers, and tobacco company's all moved back to Virginia. Plug chewing tobacco was invented in a rail car on a siding here. Became a traditional farming area. Now a bedroom community. Local charm gone, concreted over like in California.
