Long Description:
Sign text: On the site of this mill, Robert Patterson built a fort about 1775, shortly thereafter a mill. It was one of two stations at which settlers took refuge during the Cherokee raid under The Raven in 1776.

Here is a weblink (http://churchhilltn.net/Resized/imagepages/image18.htm) for a newspaper picture of the mill. Unfortunately, the mill was destroyed by arson on Halloween night 1975.
