This is a very comprehensive and detailed memorial just off to the side of E. Greenbush Road. The Bass River Memorial honors wildland firefighters who died on different incidents. Take your time, read the various plaques and stay awhile.

"The memorial was originally dedicated in 1976 to commemorate the 40th anniversary loss of 5 firefighters (two State Fire Wardens and three Civilian Conservation Corps fire fighters) who were burned over in 1936 while fighting a forest fire near the Town of Warren Grove.

"On July 22, 1977, four volunteer firefighters from the Eagleswood Fire Company were killed when their engine was burned over on a fire several miles from this memorial, and in 1982 a plaque was added for them. Another memorial stone was placed in front of the Forest Office.
