History
In 1965, as West County began to thrive, the West County YMCA was created as an extension of the Kirkwood Family YMCA branch. It was chartered as an official branch five years later. For nearly 20 years, the West County YMCA was based in a farmhouse, providing outreach programs throughout the area. In fact, it was the country’s largest nonfacility YMCA. Construction on the current state-of-the-art facility was completed in 1989. The West County YMCA’s unique features include a 370 seat theater, one of only two YMCA theaters in the country.
