Description of Memorial:
Bright white pipe fence cordons off this corner of the court house lawn. Inside the fence the ground is covered in graveled lava rock. In the proper center is a concrete pad, from which rises a speaks podium made of brick and white marble. Behind which stands a single flag pole. The the fore on the edge of the concrete pad is two bright white washed benches. On the top of the podium is the Memorial Text. Each side of the stand are marble plaques, each containing the names of the fallen. It was very early in the morning when I came here. I had no intention of stopping in Texas county. I was traveling south to do the counties of Oregon & Shannon. But the sun was up, and I was getting hungry. I wondered if there might be a small cafe in this county seat. And I stumbled upon this and other gems. The cafe was there also, so I grabbed some breakfast, talked to the local newspaper people and then headed on south.
