Pacific Grove fire department operates with a combination of paid and volunteer personnel, 15 fulltime professional fire fighters assisted by 25 volunteers. They have a ladder truck and a pumper, plus two reserve pumpers. They are also proud owners of a 1917 fire truck which is used in parades and at shows.
The volunteers are especially active in medical response, and are solely in charge of the Ocean Rescue. This facility has an updated dual air lock hyperbaric chamber which allows decompression after a scuba accident while allowing physician access for treatment.
