We hike this every July 4th to get some cool air. The trail is easily walked by children, but be aware of the effects of high altitude. Only 700 feet gain (according to my GPSr), but the views of the valley and lakes are terrific. And, usually 3-5 geocaches to find along the way. Can also use this trailhead as an alternate route to the summit of Pikes Peak, a much longer hike. From the trailhead to the summit of the Crags is about 3.5 miles round trip, with only the last quartermile fairly steep. Dogs allowed, and sometimes you'll see mountain bikers, but strollers would not make it all the way.

Update summer 2010: revised coordinates to place the trailhead at new starting point, since a new parking area has been created. This extends the round-trip distance to appx 4.5 miles and an additional 100 ft elevation gain.
