The building was erected in 1931 as the Chittenden County Trust Company. I can't say exactly when, but by the early Seventies it had become the Merchants Bank. Both banks are still in operation, the former as simply Chittenden Trust Company (Vermont's largest native bank).

The building itself now houses an Irish pub called Ri Ra.
