Off Route 191, just outside of Moab, Utah, this underground home has become a symbol tourist attraction. Having no trees for lumber out in this area of Utah, Albert and Gladys Christensen "blasted" out a 5,000 square foot home into the cliff side. It took Albert 12 years to create this suite of underground rooms. He died just two years after completing this wonder. Gladys lived another 17 years here, running a cafe and gift shop.
Today, great big letters painted on the cliff side let all passerbys know that this is the famed "Hole N' the Rock" attraction. Vistors can take a tour of the home, visit the gift shop or trading post, or browse the grounds for exhibits of interesting art, antiques and animals.
