Coney Island started out in 1867 when a farmer as asked to rent his field to a group of people from Cincinnati who wanted to hold a private party. The farmer realized that this could be much more profitable than farming and started renting the land regularly.

From a farmers field it has grown into a successful attraction despite a series of disasters over the years that threatened to close it permanently at one time or another.

Many of the classic rides have been rebuilt with more modern technology. It is still a favorite spot for picnickers with many pavilions available for rent. It also includes one of the largest outdoor pools in the area.

The park website has more information on it's history and attractions. (visit link)
