Uxbridge was settled in 1662 and incorporated in 1727 at Suffolk, then Worcester Co., Mass. Named for an Earl, it claims America's first woman voter,[1] first woman soldier, and early industrialization. Today it is the geographic center of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor.
