This bell is from the original First Baptist Church of Herculaneum building that was erected in 1908. The bell remained in the steeple of the church until February 15,1991,when fire totally destroyed the church building. The bell (along with the cornerstone) were saved from the devastation of the fire and kept in storage until November 2008. The church has relocated to Pevely, Missouri, and is now named the First Baptist Church of Herculaneum/Pevely. The bell and cornerstone have been mounted near the church and will be officially dedicated as a monument on November 15, 2008, during the church's Centennial Celebration. The bell has the date 1908 inscribed on the inside of the bell.
