The San Jose hotel was built in 1969 during Howard Johnson's expansion in California. The Motor Lodge had traditional standardized architecture and amenities.
Initially the hotel had 94 guest rooms. Later an expansion building was built. In 1994 the Gate Lodge A-Frame was demolished and replaced with a box shaped lobby.
The restaurant was a mix of “Concept '65" prototype, with an A-frame doorway. The restaurant closed in 1995 and was demolished and replaced with a strip mall type building. Source: (visit link)
