This is one of Toronto's two Bailey Bridges that are still in use. The other one is on Finch Avenue at the Rouge River. This bridge connects the CNE Grounds to a multi use waterfront trail used by joggers and CNE visitors. The bridge is mainly intended for foot traffic.

The bridge was erected in 1947 to permit people to cross the now busy highway that Lakeshore boulevard had become. This was placed here for the first post-WWII Canadian National Exhibition.
