The mosaics were made in 1988. This information is taken from the nearby notice board

These 6' by 4' mosaic panels were made by second year pupils working to their own designs and using pebbles they collected from the nearby shingle banks. They were supported by the school's art staff, Bill Smith, Derek Hansen and Joan Donald, and by Chris Bailley, the technical adviser from the Scottish Sculpture Workshop.

The mosaics pictured here are:

  • Clipper. (Kingston-built, from timber rafted down the Spey.) by James Beetham and Ian Anderson.
  • Distillery (The Gold of Strathspey) by Claire Thompson and Freya King
  • W.M.Marshall (Renowned fiddle composer of Fochabers) by Nicola Park and Laura Holmes
  • Cobbie Anglers by Paul Cruikshank and Liza Brown
  • Ploughman (With single-furrow horse-drawn plough) by Michelle Hunter and Nicki Ashton
  • Leaping Salmon by Samantha Florance and Lisa Hansen
  • Kingfisher by Angela Taylor and Katie Smith
  • Osprey with Salmon by Ryan Ramshaw and Craig Balharry
  • Pheasant by Deborah Birnie and Fiona Forsyth

The Tugnet Ice House museum is centred around the largest ice houses in Scotland. Ice from specially cut channels in the River Spey was harvested in winter and stored in the great stone ice houses for packing the salmon catch throughout the year.
