Long Description:City Planner John Nolen had a vision for Venice, Florida that allowed all people to live, play, shop, and work in a peaceful environment that intermingled all different parts of the community. With the heavenly sounds of the Gulf of Mexico at its coast, Nolen platted creative as well as traditional shapes that provided function and beauty.
While there were still adjustments to Nolen's original design for the Venezia Park Subdivision, such as the relocation of a proposed school and tennis courts, the heart of Nolen's vision still beats strong along these streets.

link] has documented the following architectural facts about the Venezia Park Historic District:
Venezia Park District consist of one- and two-story residences having wood frame or block structure with smooth or rough cast stucco finishes, often applied ornamentally. These structures are constructed with courtyards, porticos, and porte cochere. The roof designs vary from gable to hip along with some flat roofs used mostly on garages and additions to the structure. Roofing materials on the sloped roofs are generally red barrel clay tiles.
The flat roofs consist of composition materials or asbestos cement shingles. Parapet construction is common on the apartment buildings. Through the years, renovations have changed the character of many structures which once reflected the design of Venice architecture. A full set of original windows is rare on the structures due to replacement with jalousie or awning windows.
