The Horse and Jockey is a privately owned freehouse located in the idyllic village of Manton on the south shore of Rutland Water.

The recently refurbished Horse and Jockey offers all the charm and character of a traditional country inn. The open fires, stone floors and low beams along with a wide choice of fine wines and real ales.

Europe's biggest man made lake provides the backdrop for this family day out, there are two circular rides, 19 miles or 26 miles depending on whether you take in the Hambeldon peninsular or not. As you would expect Rutland water is home to some excellent watersport facilities, some of the best trout fishing in the U.K. and a cruiser. It also has a butterfly park, a nature reserve and a number of information centers.

Perhaps the most famous sight at Rutland is the half flooded Normanton Church which is all that remains of the village that was flooded when the reservoir was created. As you would expect the reservoir has all normal facilities, four major car parks and a club house for the Yachting club,
