Long Description:This memorial is a circular plaza with a ring of 64 granite stones
each of which is inscribed with some of the names of the 1,046
Maryland residents killed in the war and 38 men originally listed
as MIA. There are sixteen light spires around the memorial
representing the years of the war, 1959 through 1975. The entrance
to the plaza is flanked by two granite blocks with the following
inscriptions.

IDEALS,
ITS PROMISE, ITS ABUNDANCE, AND OUR CONTINUING
RESPONSIBILITIES

REMEMBER, TOO, THOSE WHOSE SACRIFICES UNDERLIE THESE BLESSINGS.

WHO SERVED IN THE ARMED FORCES OF OUR NATION DURING THE VIETNAM

REMAIN MISSING IN ACTION. THEIR NAMES ARE JOINED IN THIS PLACE IN
EVERLASTING REMEMBRANCE.
