Marker inscription: Two and a half miles (in the direction the arrow points). Here three brigades of Hood’s Division, Army of Tennessee, under Brigadier General Micah Jenkins, made a night attack against Geary’s Division of the XII Corps guarding the recently opened “Cracker Line” to Bridgeport, Alabama. The attack was repulsed with heavy losses on both sides.
