This benchmark is located along the old abandoned Bend-Prineville Road above the Ochoco Wayside Viewpoint. Park at the viewpoint and walk back to the old road and up the road to the top of the grade. Benchmark is in top of large boulder near north edge of old road. Only about a quarter of the cap remains and only the 635 of the original markings remains. Based on original description the boulder may not be in its original location.

ABOUT 1.9 MILES WEST ALONG THE ABANDONED BEND ROAD FROM PRINEVILLE, CROOK COUNTY, ON THE NORTH SIDE OF A RIDGE FROM THE PRESENT OCHOCO HIGHWAY, 0.4 MILE NORTHWEST AND 0.7 MILE NORTHEAST ALONG A ROAD TURNING TO THE NORTHWEST FROM THE OCHOCO HIGHWAY AT A POINT 3.4 MILES FROM THE COUNTY COURTHOUSE AT PRINEVILLE, 0.1 MILE WEST OF AN OLD QUARRY, 60 FEET EAST OF THE BEGINNING OF THE CUT FOR THE DESCENT TO PRINEVILLE, AT THE NORTH EDGE OF THE ROAD AND MARKED BY A SMALL ROCK CAIRN. A USGS STANDARD DISK STAMPED 3229.635 B B Q 3 1908. NOTE-- U.S. HIGHWAY 28 ALL THE WAY UP THE HILL TO THE RIM OF THE VALLEY. AT THIS POINT (DRIVE TO OLD AIRPORT GOES SOUTH FROM HIGHWAY HERE) LEAVE PAVED HIGHWAY AND FOLLOW DIRT ROAD LEADING NORTH 0.5 MILES TO THE CROSSING OF OLD EAST-WEST ROAD, THENCE, FOLLOW OLD ROAD EAST 0.55 MILE TO THE BM. THIS ROUTE IS LONGER THAN OLD SUGESTED ROUTE BUT IS MORE LEVEL.
