Established in 1974, the Colonials Height VFD originally thought its mission would be 10-20 years until Kingsport annexed the area, but legal battles resulted in Kingsport linear annexation of Fort Henry Drive and its businesses - not the surrounding neighborhoods. This volunteer group does a good job with its resources, and is supported by $30 annual voluntary donation. They have also won the local fireman rodeo several times.
