There was an active station clearly visible from the main A591 road, above the roof line of Ambleside Police house. House now no longer a police house and device removed.

OS station map. AMBE was the station name.
But OS map is up to date. Use square NY3704. There is a red icon where Ambleside station was.

There was one receiver in the dome, which was installed on 24 May 2004 and replaced on 14 January 2008. There were no weather recording devices.
According to the log, it was a LEIAT504 L1/L2 Dorne Margolin antenna with choke rings. (designed after DORNE MARGOLIN T)
The Police station is
unmanned by Police. Local volunteers staff the building on a part time basis.
