This is the old GM&O Train Depot in Sparta. Is was also used in the 1967 classic film "In the Heat of the Night" starring Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger.

The train depot has been restored to its former glory and is now an art museum with a section devoted to the film (movie posters, scripts, autographed photos, etc.). Today it contains an art museum featuring the works of Southern Illinois sketch artist Roscoe Misselhorn.
