Long Description:From Wiki:
The Auditorium's pipe organ is one of the 25 largest in the
world. Installed in 1908 by the innovative organ builder Robert
Hope-Jones, its components have been rebuilt and expanded several
times since resident organist Gordon Turk took his post in 1974.
Additions continue to be made — including a 14-rank echo division
in 2008 — in an effort to broaden the resources necessary to play
repertoire of many styles and periods, and to restore those stops
unique to the instrument as Hope-Jones conceived it. The organ
currently contains five manuals, 176 ranks, and 10,823 total pipes.
Prominent organists to have played the Ocean Grove Auditorium organ
include Edwin H. Lemare, Pietro Yon, and Frederick Swann.
Celebrated organist Virgil Fox gave his last solo concert in the
building in 1980. Turk and guest concert organists play free
recitals on most Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons in July
and August.
