This stately mansion was the first frame house built in what would soon become the Town of Schroeppel. George Casper Schroeppel, whom the town is named after, built this frame house in 1818. After his death in 1829, his son Henry, had the addition built onto the back of the home. This home was one of a few stops in the area for the Underground Railroad and a secret tunnel was built leading from the basement to the nearby Oneida River bank, for secretly sneaking slaves in or out. This home was placed on the N.R.H.P. in 1982.
