This six sided Peace pole was dedication October 9, 2005 in Freehold township's Durand Park Memorial Arboretum.
The Durand Park Memorial Arboretum is a 100 acre portion of the original Durand Farm. The Arboretum was designed with three focal areas containing a 9’ tall black granite obelisk, a 9-ton natural granite boulder and the New Jersey State Tree, a Red Oak. Surrounding the three focal points is the Arboretum itself which includes 546 trees dedicated by individuals in memory of loved ones.
One of the hidden treasures of The Arboretum is the large Butterfly Meadow. Adjoining the Butterfly Meadow is a mature wooded area with picnic benches, which overlook a pond. The combination of a memorial arboretum and natural ecosystem makes Durand Park a special place for anyone to visit and enjoy the quiet serenity of a truly unique area. Whether your trip is to fondly remember a loved one memorialized by a special tree planting, or to view graceful butterflies in their native habitats, Durand Park is a special place designed to provide an opportunity for thought, peace and remembrance. “Durand Park is dedicated to the memories of loved ones and is a place for quiet reflection.”
