This cap is located about 10 miles NW of Sisters along US Hwy 20, near the Deschutes-Jefferson County Line about 300 feet west of the Metolius Junction and about 60 feet southwest of highway centerline. The benchmark was set by the U.S.D.A Bureau of Public Roads in 1934 and stamped elevation 3327 feet, No. 23427.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1987 RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION, A NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS. 15.9 KM (9.90 MI) NORTHWESTERLY ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 20 FROM ITS JUNCTION WITH FIR STREET IN SISTERS, 95.7 M (314.0 FT) NORTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF GEO. MCALLISTER ROAD LEADING SOUTH, 18.5 M (60.7 FT) SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY, AND 12.3 M (40.4 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE DESCHUTES AND JEFFERSON COUNTY LINE SIGN POST. NOTE-THIS MARK IS ACTUALLY IN DESCHUTES COUNTY. THE MARK IS 0.3 METERS SE FROM A WITNESS POST THE MARK IS ABOVE LEVEL WITH THE HIGHWAY.
