The
Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope is located near Hooghalen and consists of 14 dish antennas, most of them arranged along a line. A nice instructive path leads from the parking lot through a wood to the lookout point. Along the path you find the planets of the solar system at locations proportional to their distance from the sun along with other instructive material. The path is stroller-friendly and there are a number of playgrounds of sorts for kids, including a large set of parabolic dishes to experiment with sound transport for longer distances.
