From their site:
Nutz was born in Hertfordshire in 1967. He was always good at art and drawing but as he never felt like he fitted in society, motorcycles have played a big part in Nutz's lifestyle. He was a rebel from an early age so never studied art of any kind. He says "thankfully my parents gave me lots of crayons as a child." So this must be where his talent sprung from.
He enjoys painting and as a youth, walls were his canvas. He used to design tattoos for his friends, but never really liked them as the ones his friends were getting done never looked much like the design that he had drawn.
At the age of 24, he finally gave in and started getting 'inked', this sparked an interest in the more technical side as Nutz thought he could refine the technique and do much better. So, eventually he progressed and bought his own tattoo machines and sterilizing equipment and began teaching himself how to tattoo. He practiced on his own legs and once he was confident enough, he practiced on his friends too.
He built himself up a portfolio or art, designs and photos of the tattoos he had done and eventually convinced one of the local tattoo studios to take him on. He stayed there for a few years until he had built himself a good reputation and decided to move on to bigger and better things. He was the main artist in the next studio in Hertford along side his girlfriend and body-piercer, Jackie.
They made a good team and in early 2005, decided to 'go for it' and open their very own studio. The rest, as they say, is history. Nutz may have become part of society a bit late in life. But, not only has he worked very hard to get where he is today, he has also had a lot of fun on the way. He says he enjoys all styles of tattoos and likes to think he is good at them all.His favorites are high detail work, portraits and horror work.He is has lots of influenced by the work of HR Giger.
When Nutz isn't tattooing in his studio in Ware, (Nutz Tattoo) he is on the road tattooing at conventions across the country and beyond. Check the convention listing for details.
