Five chambers have been cut out of the red sandstone cliffs overlooking the Eden river. There are metal brackets in the wall presumably to create seating. Possible uses may have been purely entertainment or a wine store. It was fashionable at the time to have romantic follies.
Path is well maintained, with wooden board walks to north. The walls are no longer smooth and showing interesting patterns.
