The Iron Bridge Shelter is an enclosed camping shelter with a loft and a porch. Two camp chairs were inside the shelter making for a comfortable stay after a long day of hiking. There's a fire pit and a picnic table located outside. According to a sign on the shelter, it's available on a first come-first serve basis, but hikers are expected to share the space. No reservations are required. Available for a one night stay only. Hikers must keep food outside, and hanger pins are available on the porch. Shelter users are expected to clean up after themselves and pack out their trash. The Trail Register is located inside the shelter on the loft so hikers can leave a note about their experiences.
The segment of the Florida Trail that runs through the Etoniah Creek State Forest leads you through dense oak forests and over a few feeder streams and marshes, but thankfully there are small wooden bridges to cross. It's a beautiful area and a great place to hike.
