This bridge is California Historical Marker #583 (registered May 17,1957), and it is also on the National Register of Historic Places (listed June 19,1973). The two separate plaques marking both of these listings were placed together by E Clampus Vitus: Monterey Viejo and Mountain Charley chapters.

The plaques were placed here at the bridge on October 10, 1987, following the major restoration of the bridge which was necessary after storm and flood damage sustained in winter 1982.
