Ponce de Leon Park in Punta Gorda has a few tributes to Ponce de Leon. In one section of the park is a statue representing Ponce de Leon with a marker placed next to it.
The marker reads as follows:
BORN - San Tierra de Campos, Palencia
Spain - 1460
DIED - Havanna, Cuba - (probably Mid-June) - 1522
INTERRED - Entombment beneath the high altar of the Dominican
Cathedral of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
