Colby County was organized in 1885. This large Romanesque style courthouse, built in 1906, still serves the county.
The ornate red brick building has white stone trim and a tall clock tower. It stands on a slight rise and the tower is visible approaching Colby from the east. It was placed on the National Register of historic places in 1976.
