The sign is located in Market Street, an older part of town. From simple googling of the surname Hallett there are many names relating to the property market and architecture in Poole, so perhaps this used to be a premises of the same ilk?
It is near to the Market Hotel and the narrow, cobbled street has many passageways leading to the quay.
