Core artists include Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC DC, Van Halen, Pink Floyd and Rush. While a predominantly heritage and St. Louis native airstaff serves up plenty of mainstream classic rock, KSHE 95 also features new music by artists such as Creed, Default and Nickelback. The station targets men between the ages of 25 and 54, but KSHE 95 is a station of prominence within the entire 25-54 adult demographic. KSHE's morning show, "Bob and Tom", is regularly ranked within the top 5 morning shows with 25-54 year old adults. KSHE is a rock & roll radio station licensed to Crestwood, Missouri which serves the St. Louis, Missouri area. KSHE is located at 94.7 MHz and currently uses the slogan "KSHE 95, Real Rock Radio". The station mascot is a sunglass wearing pig named Sweet Meat, a likeness of which originally appeared on the Blodwyn Pig LP, "Ahead Rings Out". Like the pig pictured on the LP cover, Sweet Meat first appeared with a joint in his mouth. This "controversial" detail disappeared in the early '80s. The station's studios have been located in the Powerhouse building at St. Louis Union Station since the 1990s, while the transmitter remains in Crestwood. KSHE is owned by Emmis Communications and has been since 1984.
KSHE broadcasts RBDS data. Its morning show is a syndicated feed of the Bob & Tom Show, out of Indianapolis. It recently announced its first HD Radio subchannel, which will broadcast a 24-hour version of longtime personality John Ulett's popular KSHE Klassics Show. KSHE originally played lighter, female-oriented rock when it first started operating in 1961 as KSHE (Hence, the reason for the SHE in KSHE), Over the years, KSHE gradually incorporated more mainstream rock to become the station that it is today. KSHE, one of the oldest continually operating rock stations in the country, celebrated its 40th birthday as a rock station in November, 2007. KSHE opened up a free virtual museum on its website as a way of celebrating its 40th birthday. It contains video clips, audio clips, pictures and memorabilia. The first inductees (2007) were Rush, Kiss, Ted Nugent, and REO Speedwagon.
