This Fairport Harbor Lighthouse remains active today with a 300mm optic lens.
The US Goverment allocated funds for the construction of this lighthouse in 1917. The lighthouse was not completed until some years later. The original lighthouse keepers lived a solitary existence as the lighthouse stood alone on a rock outcropping and could only be reached by boat. In later years a breakwall was extended to and beyond the lighthouse. That breakwall still offers walking access to the lighthouse. The lighthouse was originally equipped with a fourth-order Fresnel lens.
