The Navarre Anderson Trading Post was originally built on Elm street.

The Building was moved twice. In 1894 I.E. Ilgenfritz moved the house one block north to Willow Street. In 1972 the building was moved and stored.

The current location is part of the Monroe County Historical Museum.

A nearby historical Marker tells:
"You are approaching the oldest wooden structure in Michigan. Built in 1789, it was moved from it's original in 1894. In 1969 it's history was discovered..."
