The first Europeans came to southern New Jersey in the late 1600s, so Cape May's history is a relatively long one.
The Cape May Historic District was added to the Register in 1970 and consists of 600 buildings covering 3800 acres - comprising one of the largest concentrations of Victorian architecture.
The houses are varied and colorful - many are open to the public through tours or as B&B's.
Note - the coordinates listed are centered in the Washington Street Mall where several blocks are closed to vehicular traffic & shops line the street.
