Grand Ridge Wind Farm - Marseilles, IL - Windmills on Waymarking.com

Out in the corn fields of Illinois, you can see this wind farm for miles.

According to Invenergy's web site, the Grand Ridge Wind Farm, when completed, will have potentially 66 GE 1.5 SLE wind turbines generating up to 99 MW of power. People I spoke with said that it is very near completion; the last construction remaining is the substation to link the wind farm to the electrical grid. The expected energy output will be approximately 315,000,000 kilowatt hours per year, enough energy to power 33,000 typical homes. Construction started in the fall of 2007.

The waymark is located at the corner of E 23rd Rd and N 18th Rd. The nearest wind turbine is in the middle of the field.
