On February 23, 1952 Reginald H Parsons & The Seattle area council Boy Scouts of America presented this statue to the city of Seattle. On September 6, 2008 she was unvieled on her new base.
Over the years this 16-foot statue has gone through alot. In 1975 she was knocked off her base, in 1996 someone ripped off the torch, and in 2005 some ripped off the seven rays radiating from her crown.
